Good news troubleshooting fans! Jeremy Cioara has just completed his Cisco CCNP Routing/Switching300-135 TSHOOT course. Jeremy will cover how to troubleshoot different technologies like VLANs, spanning trees protocol, and many more. This course prepares learners for the Cisco 300-135 exam, which is a qualifying exam to earn CCNP R&S certification.
We spoke to Jeremy about the course and how learners can benefit from it.
Q: Why should companies train their IT personnel in this technology? What is the value of this series? The TSHOOT series goes beyond the basic concepts and configurations covered in the first two CCNP Exams (ROUTE & SWITCH), and focuses on the actual application and troubleshooting technology. There are always three levels to learning: concept, configure, then troubleshoot. The final stage is the focus of the TSHOOT series.
Q: What was your student perspective when creating this course. I knew that students would still be “fresh” from learning new technologies through the CCNA ROUTE and SWITCH series. In this course, I used a “fly by review” approach to each topic — then a deep dive into troubleshooting those topics.

Start trainingQ: Do you have any tips for students that are outside the box to make the most of your course? There are actually three TSHOOT courses. Here are the two other courses I have taught:
TSHOOT 2.0: This video shows me with a camera on my shoulder facing the scenarios blind/devoid.
TSHOOT 2.0 Labs is a GNS3-based troubleshooting experience for students, featuring Keith Barker.
All three of these are valid preparation materials and should be used to prepare for the exam.
Q: What is one real-world application that this course can help with? Learning how to approach troubleshooting situations using a systematic approach.
Q: Which was your favorite Nugget? Foundations: Preventing troubleshooting with proactive network maintenance. This Nugget shows the heart of doing things right when you are approaching network architecture/troubleshooting as a whole.
Q: What were the obstacles you faced when creating this training? This can be difficult in a pre-determined setting. But, it is possible to go beyond the box (see the answer to the out-of-the–box question earlier) and provide troubleshooting concepts and the experience to students CBTN-style.
Q: What is the one thing you hope learners will take away from this training? More than the concepts of troubleshooting… The EXPERIENCE of problemshooting.
