What is the purpose of having a project dashboard software that is appealing? These are two scenarios to consider:
Scenario 1 – Scattered sticky notes and rogue Google documents. Excel spreadsheets for days. Budgeting books. Email follow-ups galore. Deadlines scrawled on personal calendars. This sounds like a nightmare, right?
Scenario 2 – Interactive dashboards that show you everything you need about your project, a specific metric, and the resources of your project all in one place. (Much better, right?)
If you don’t prefer scenario 1, it’s not efficient to keep all your information scattered about. There’s a high chance that you might miss an update. This list contains project management tools that will help you get closer to scenario 2.
My analysis will focus on the tool with the best project status dashboard. It will allow you to track your projects easily, drill down into specific projects and save you time so that you can concentrate on other important tasks.
Comparison Criteria for Dashboard Reporting Software
Good project management dashboard software should be easy to use, visually pleasing, allow for data customization, and display task progress. You can customize the graph by using a widget, integration, or simply choosing the type of graph that you want to display certain information.
What are my criteria for selecting dashboard reporting software? Here is a summary of my evaluation criteria.
User Interface (UI). Is the dashboard for the office team clean, attractive, and simple to navigate? Is it well-used and has enough whitespace to display project data?
Sources of data: I would like to know where the software can get information. Does it come from one module, the entire platform or third-party applications?
Integrations: I check if it is possible to connect with other tools. Pre-built and native integrations are the main types. My dashboard can be connected to these tools via an external connector, webhook or similar.
Value for $: I consider pricing and paid tiers. I also look at the availability of dashboards and information about free trials or free versions of the software.
Key Features
These are essential features for any dashboard reporting system.
Real-time data updates – The dashboard connects with your project and displays real time data. It only takes a few minutes to set it up the first time.
User can customize the interface. This allows them to choose what, when, and where they want to see different areas of their data dashboard. Additionally, customization should be intuitively understood and simple to do.
Interactive charts, dashboard templates, or graphs – The best dashboard program will include some interactive visuals. It should also include templates to assist beginners.
Project health analysis – Users are able to quickly and easily analyze the project.
